Training courses

As part of our commitment to improving standards and promoting the value of audited data throughout the industry, we offer a wide variety of training courses.

They are designed to provide valuable insights into the workings of ABC and are particularly useful for staff involved in preparing data for an audit.

The objective of all courses is maximise the benefit of ABC to your company.

Courses are currently available for:

Business Magazines - completing an eReturn and preparing for audit 

This half day entry level circulation auditing course is aimed at individuals new to ABC auditing, or those requiring a refresher on the audit process. The course covers all categories of circulation and has particular emphasis on record keeping requirements and submitting your claim to ABC. The course is computer based, allowing delegates to have practical experience of the eReturn system. In addition we will give you ideas of how best to promote your ABC certificate using live examples.

Content will include

  • The ABC
  • Getting to know the certificate
  • Circulation category definitions
  • Completing an eReturn
  • Marketing your certificate

To celebrate the New Year we are now offering places on this course at a reduced rate. Usually £155 per person, you can now attend the half day course for £125 saving nearly 20%. Prices are reduced even further to £100 per person if two or more from your company attend.  This offers closes on 14th February 2012. 

From then on the course costs £155 per delegate.

The cost is inclusive of a buffet lunch, giving you the opportunity to chat to other delegates and our trainers. The courses take place at the our offices in Berkhamsted.

Online training - Improving online sales performance

This half day course is designed for online sales and marketing professionals who are either new to online sales and marketing or have been working with this medium for some time. It will give executives the opportunity to build a stronger sales proposition enabling you to differentiate your products from competitors and build sales.

Having completed the course, you will have greatly increased your knowledge of how a site’s traffic is collated and measured. You will understand what industry metrics mean and the process ABC uses to audit these figures to industry standards. Also included is a section on the general principles of online versus offline media and how to build an effective sales case using the ABC certificate.

Online training - buying online inventory with confidence

Maximise your online investments by making the best use of ABC audited data. This course is designed to benefit agencies and advertisers alike and is aimed at media planner/ buyers marketeers responsible for online advertising decisions.

Having completed the course, delegates will have greatly increased their knowledge of how a site’s traffic is collated and measured. They will understand what industry agreed metrics mean and the process ABC uses to audit these figures to industry agreed standards.

Online training - website traffic measurement

This full day course has been designed for traffic measurement staff who work with an internal traffic measurement function and third party counting solution providers.

The course will give you a greater level of understanding of how a website's traffic figures are calculated, how standards and metrics in this area have been developed (and what they really mean) and how to use them to your best advantage. It will help improve your understanding on how to get the most out of the technologies available and achieve better measurement confidence.

Content will include:

  • Website structure and organisation
  • Understanding counting technologies for better decision making
  • Web building blocks – IP + User Agent + Cookies. What are they and why are they important?
  • Understanding the different industry compliant counting methodologies
  • How to identify a third party counting solution with the right credentials?
  • Industry-agreed Standards and metric definitions.
  • Page Tagging vs web server log file analysis.

Regional Publications training courses

Training for publishers/auditors of regional publications.

This half-day workshop provides a brief history of ABC and shows how it operates and the part publishers/auditors play in that process.

The training goes through Return Form and examines the rules and record keeping required for each section. It will ensure that publishers know how to maximise their ABC figure and gives an opportunity to clarify and discuss any aspects of the Reporting Standards. Auditors will be shown areas of risk and examples of this. Exercises will put into practice the points highlighted during the workshop.

This workshop is suitable for anybody who is responsible for circulation claimed on the certificate or involved in the administration, record keeping function or completion of the Return Form.
