Converting UK Post codes to ABC Geographical regions

For publishers completing a Geographical Analysis showing UK Counties or UK Regions, copies need to be analysed on the claim according to ABC regions. The following notes provide guidance on analysing your mailing list and translating postcodes on that list to ABC regions.

To do this most simply, you may use a conversion file supplied by BPH Data which allows you to directly convert Post Codes to ABC County name and ABC Region name.

Alternatively you will need to follow a two-stage process:

1) Post Codes to Royal Mail County Name: If you have a license to analyse Royal Mail postcode data, then you should be able to produce an appropriate conversion file.

2) Royal Mail County Names to ABC Format: This can be done using the ABC County conversion file (click here).  This file lists the Royal Mail County name against the ABC County name and ABC Region name.
