Align to EU legislation with our AATP audit
In 2010 we became the UK’s first auditor to perform behavioural advertising audits. Today we continue to work with leading companies as an approved Certification Provider for the EDAA (European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance), the creators of the Advanced Advertising Transparency Programme (AATP).
How do you strengthen online advertising transparency?
Consumers can feel bombarded by online advertising, raising concerns about data tracking and transparency. This lack of trust creates challenges for advertisers and raises questions about control over targeted advertising.
The Digital Services Act (DSA) which came into effect in February 2024 addresses these concerns by demanding stricter transparency requirements to protect EU consumers.
Look for the AATP Transparency Seal
The AATP, managed by the EDAA, enables companies to provide meaningful transparency, choice and control for consumers. This collaborative effort, aligns with the DSA’s objective of providing European consumers with a predictable and trusted online environment.
Our independent audit and certification verifies compliance with the AATP, and earns you the recognised AATP Transparency Seal. This helps you build trust with consumers, regulators and business partners.

Steps to certification
Our AATP audit is available to all companies involved in creating and/or delivering online ad campaigns, and we can audit you from any geographic location.
Here’s an overview of the process…
Getting to know you
A member of our Account Management team will work with you to find out your requirements and answer any questions you have about the audit process.
Preparing for the audit
Your Audit Manager will explain the AATP verification process and assess your business's readiness for the audit. We'll provide you with a questionnaire tailored to your business to streamline the process.
Monitoring
We'll establish a 30-day monitoring process as required by the EDAA. Our monitoring work includes reviewing the implementation of the EDAA Ad Choices Icon, the ad transparency information displayed to the consumer, and testing mechanisms for choice and control such as youronlinechoices.eu.
Conducting the audit
We’ll request evidence relevant to your business; Typical examples include your documented internal procedures, complaints and query mechanisms, procedures for collection and display of ad information, and preferences and opt out mechanisms. Your auditor will detail any actions or recommendations for remediation.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the audit, you'll receive an audit report confirming compliance and we’ll issue to you the AATP Transparency Seal, valid for two years. To ensure ongoing compliance we’ll continue monthly monitoring and a risk-based review every six months.
Is the AATP right for me? Yes, if...
- Your company qualifies as an Online Platform under the DSA
- You’re an AdTech player working with online platforms, supporting the latter to comply with DSA Art. 26
- You want to offer heightened transparency across your digital properties
If you’re an Advertising Agency, DSP, On-line platform or SSP, to achieve your AATP Transparency seal you’ll need to commit to the independent certification process which we facilitate.

About the EDAA
The EDAA co-created the Advanced Advertising Transparency Programme (AATP) with and for the digital advertising industry. The AATP offers an adaptable ad transparency solution to help alignment with the provisions of the DSA by using the well-known AdChoices Icon as a prominent, standardised ad marker.
The AATP provides comprehensive policy and technical guidance for the implementation of the solution and relies on IAB Europe and IAB Tech Lab’s DSA Transparency Extension for the transfer of ad transparency information across the OpenRTB space.
