Show your commitment to data privacy with our EDAA audit
In 2021 we became the first UK auditor to perform behavioural advertising audits and we continue to work with leading companies as an approved Certification Provider for the EDAA (European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance).
How do you raise trust in behavioural advertising?
Online advertising can often overwhelm consumers, leading to concerns about data tracking and a lack of transparency*.
This trust gap poses challenges for advertisers and raises questions about data security.

Steps to certification
Our EDAA audit is available to all companies involved in delivering targeted advertising and/or collecting behavioural data, and we can audit you from any geographic location.
Here’s an overview of the process…
Getting to know you
A member of our Account Management team will work with you to find out your requirements and answer any questions you have about the audit process.
Preparing for the audit
Your Audit Manager will explain the EDAA verification process and assess your business's readiness for the audit. Our work will be based on your self-certification to the EDAA. We'll provide you with a pre-populated questionnaire to streamline the process.
Monitoring
We'll establish a 30-day monitoring process as required by the EDAA. Our monitoring work includes reviewing your privacy notices, collecting data driven advertising cookies and testing opt out mechanisms. We analyse your processes and test integration with the youronlinechoices website
Conducting the audit
We’ll request evidence relevant to your business; typical examples include your documented internal procedures, complaints and query mechanisms, procedures for collection and display of ad information, and preferences and opt out mechanisms. Your auditor will detail any actions or recommendations for remediation.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the audit, you'll receive an audit report confirming compliance and we’ll issue you with the EDAA Trust Seal, valid for two years. To ensure ongoing compliance we’ll continue monthly monitoring and every six months we'll revisit any recommendations, review privacy notices and review and test your complaints procedures.
Why get EDAA Certified?
Achieving the EDAA Trust Seal offers several advantages:
- Publicly demonstrate your commitment to consumer privacy
- Promote your independently certified status
- Enhance trust and transparency
- Win new business opportunities
About the EDAA
The EDAA manages two European self-regulatory programmes for online advertising and we’re approved to independently certify compliance to both of their programmes.
The EDAA’s main purpose is to provide companies across Europe with the ‘AdChoices Icon’; A consumer-facing, interactive symbol that links consumers to an online portal, where consumers can find simple information about data-driven advertising as well as a mechanism for exercising informed choice over personalised ads.
The EDAA process is as follows:
- Sign up to the EDAA
- Implement the Ad Choices icon and integrate the youronlinechoices.eu platform
- Self-certify your compliance
- Independently certify your compliance with an approved auditor (that’s us!)
